- Abstract
Due to increasing urbanization and traffic, population exposure to vehicle emissions has been trending upwards over the past several decades in Australia. Air quality measurements were conducted at an inner-city suburban childcare centre in Melbourne, Victoria to assess the potential impacts of air pollution on health. This perspective covers the contemporary clinical and scientific knowledge-base for air quality and the impact on respiratory health among children in childcare centres, drawing attention to the childcare policies in Australia compared to international best practice, highlighting the need to change current strategies.
