The article explores the legend of the human sausage factory which reflects the post-war images of violence and evil in Tartu, Estonia during the 1940's. It cites the horrific experiences, murder, and atrocities of the Second World War which became part of literature and folklore and fabricate cannibalistic conceptions. It also notes the visual images created by the Tartu sausage factory legend which served as a metaphor for anxieties on the economy, political situation, and uncontrolled crime.
