- Title
Paying vendors in wartime - then and now.
- Abstract
The article reports on how in-country vendors are paid by the U.S. military in wartime. In-country vendors were paid by cash or check during World War II and the Korean War depending upon the situation. The Army made few payments in U.S. dollars due to the fact that many in-country vendors were subcontractors to firms such as KBR and DynCorp. Many financial operations were conducted outside the wartime theater today with the use of automation and electronic communications.
