- Abstract
The physiotherapist performance in hospital ward aims to decrease the consequences of immobility, as well as reducing the length of hospital stay. The aim of the study was to outline physiotherapist's acting in hospital environment focusing at ward through an integrative literature review. The research was made on the databases Medline, Scielo, Lilacs, Pubmed, Academic Google delimited between the years 2007 to 2017, using the descriptors physiotherapy, ward, hospital. Of the 223 articles initially found, 12 were included on the sample. These studies approached the clinical profile of patients who received physical therapy care in hospital wards, as well as evaluation of techniques and behaviors used by physiotherapists. Most studies were published in 2014 (25%), 2007 (16.6%) and 2011 (16.6%). Physical therapy in the hospital ward environment proved to be relevant for reducing the impact of hospitalization on the osteo-myo-articular, cardiovascular and respiratory systems, and it works effectively in the pre and postoperative periods.
