- Abstract
An essay is presented on the parallels between the plays "Measure for Measure" by William Shakespeare and "More Dissemblers Besides Women" by Thomas Middleton. It explores the influence that the playwrights may have on each other as demonstrated in the similarities between their plays, the differences between the male Duke, the primary character in Shakespeare's play, and the Duchess who serves as the main character in Middleton's work and the difference in the portrayal of women in both plays.
