The article offers criticism on the book "Mon Odyssée," by Jean-Paul Pillet, a memoir about experiences in revolutionary Saint-Domingue, Haiti. Details relating to Pillet's later life and work as an entertainer in the U.S. are also noted. Additional topics discussed include colonialism and colonial societies, the history of creole persons and how the memoir described was likely written around 1800, but not published until the 1950s.
