- Abstract
This article examines the metaphor of reading as a journey as illustrated by Fernando de Rojas in Celestina: a text that calls for a kind of reader who both reads through traveling and travels through reading. This process is facilitated by the narrative paths opened by the representation of beds which, beyond serving as repositories and producers of meaning, function as gateways of signification within Celestina itself and among other texts. This model of readership serves as a hallmark of modernity that reformulates both the narrative potential of objects and the role of readers in the creation of meaning at the dawn of modernity in the Iberian Peninsula.
