- Abstract
The article discusses the Battle of Frederickstown, a Civil War confrontation which took place in the town of Frederickstown, Missouri. The role of Confederate Brigadier General M. Jeff Thompson in the battle is described and the events preceding the battle are detailed. Information is provided about the Union successes and the Confederate failures in Missouri during the early part of the Civil War. The political conflict between the pro-secessionist and anti-secessionist factions in Missouri is also explored.
