- Abstract
In this paper I'm trying to analyse the impact that the First Carlist War had on the Spanish population and economy. To do that I have divided the consequences into three parts: human losses, post-war exile and material damage. In this way, I have noticed that the First Carlist War, though didn't have serious consequences on the whole of Spain, it had them on the areas that were more affected by the combats. The war left there a trace of dead and injuried people, exiled carlists, raped women, destroyed houses, devastated forests and exterminated livestock, as well as an increase of the municipal and state debt, that had, at the same time, other repercussions.
