- Abstract
An article on images as places of memory for development of a collective identity is presented, using the example of Dutch school curricula concerning Germans and Germany in World War II. The author uses classroom posters with motifs expressing German oppression of Dutch citizens as examples of these lieux de mémoire. These widely-distributed visual examples are used to document the didactic representations of the German culture during this time period of oppression and fear, and a brief history of this media form is also provided.
