Clinical and Economic Implications of Kidney Stone Treatment.
- Authors
Matlaga, Brian R.
- Abstract
The article discusses ureteroscopy (URS) and shock wave lithotripsy for the treatment of kidney stones and compares the treatment and cost effectiveness of both the techniques. It states that considering randomized controlled trials is the best way to compare treatment effectiveness. It states that URS is more effective than SWL for kidney stone management, both economically and therapeutically and suggests urologists to consider the clinical and cost-related efficacy of treatment.
