The article explores the nature of the relationship between the art of Niccolò dell'Arca and Jacopo della Quercia. It also examines how the works of Quercia may have an impact on Niccolò. The author mentions that in term of their sculptural style both artists were perfect carvers of marble and created forms and textural details. The author pertains that working method and techniques were the deeper connection between the two artists on which may account for some of the similarities of approach seen in their work. The author contends that even though Niccolò were not and never have been a pupil of Quercia as it has been asserted, he was however following the footsteps Quercia as a highly unique and original artist.
