In this article the authors talk about the contemporary timber architecture. The authors believe that the origin of architecture is timber structure which is designed to weather climates in the Arctic and tropic regions. They compare and contrast vernacular construction and architecture and discuss the relation between timber and modernism. They believe that the expressive, experiential qualities of architecture are brought out by timber.
