The article focuses on the mainstream media's presentation of violence, poverty, and despair in favelas in Rio de Janiero, Brazil which is where the Olympic Games will be held in 2016. It notes the role of the 2002 motion picture "City of God" on the Brazilian government's eviction of residents in the area. The author further highlights the article in "New York Times" which was titled "Violence in the Newest Olympic City Rattles Brazil."
