The article focuses on the report by the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) regarding the socioeconomic effects of the 2011 rinderpest eradication. Highlights of the report include the annual benefits of the eradication in Africa, the optimistic views of FAO on the networks of institutions involved in the campaign, and the recognition rendered by FAO to the potential of collected blood samples in research.
