- Abstract
The article presents information on a study on the effects of antioxidants, such as N-acetylcysteine (NAC), quercetin and apocynin, on diabetic nephropathy in Otsuka Long Evans Tokushima Fatty (OLETF) rats. Twenty-four hour urinary 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) and malondialdehyde (MDA) were checked for analyzing oxidative stress. The findings indicate that such antioxidants can improve diabetic nephropathy in the OLETF rats through amelioration of oxidative stress.
