Title
Failure to sterilize colonoscopy tubing triggers recall of US veterans for infection testing.
Abstract
The article reports that U.S. veterans could have been exposed to infectious diseases because Veterans Affairs hospitals in Tennessee, Georgia, and Miami did not properly sterilize endoscopic equipment used for colonoscopy. Letters were sent to veterans in March 2009 warning that unclean equipment may have exposed them to HIV, hepatitis C, or hepatitis B.
