- Title
A tale of many electrons.
- Abstract
In this article, the editor discusses the invention of the density functional theory (DFT), a computational quantum mechanical modeling method for the investigation of the electronic structure of a many body system. The editor addresses the efforts of the physicists Pierre Hohenberg and Walter Kohn in the analysis of DFT, role of DFT in predicting the structure and electrical conductivity along with the use of DFT in studying the atomic structures of fluids.
