- Title
Protein crystals: How the weak become strong.
- Authors
Semmrich, Christine; Bausch, Andreas R.
- Abstract
The article presents author's view on an article related to the strengthening of crystal stacks with the use of beta-sheet stack structures published in earlier issue of the periodical. He discusses that beta-sheet stack structures in protein crystals are held together with hydrogen bonds which provides strength to the crystal stacks. He reports that this strategy is often used to nanostructure at hierarchical levels to perform different functions.
