The article presents information on the need of critically reassessing the belief that literary influence is destined to be a one-way traffic with focus on the book "Don Quixote: A Touchstone for Literary Criticism." It focuses on the dialogic encounter between early modern Europe and Islam. It refers to the rich intertextual and cultural heritage of Arabian ancestors of Cervantes.
