Title
The potential impact of USP 797 and what the JCAAI is doing about it.
Abstract
This article reports on the concern of the Joint Council of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (JCAAI) about the potential impact of proposed revision of United States Pharmacopeia (USP) 797, which deals with sterile compounding. The proposed change to USP 797 calls for compounded substances be prepared under sterile conditions to insure patient safety. The proposed change, if applied to allergy vaccines, would create severe hardship on allergy practices.
