The article discusses the incorporation of U.S. copyright law protection for literary characters featured in multiple works as of 2015, and it mentions derivative works in America, as well as the legal aspects of the character Sherlock Holmes and author J.K. Rowling's use of the pseudonym Newt Scamander. The public domain copyright law concept is addressed, along with nonlinear character delineation, America's Copyright Act, and the U.S. copyright law case Klinger v. Conan Doyle Estate Ltd.
