- Abstract
The article offers information on the result of the study that examines the specific role for PTEN-induced kinase-1 (PINKI) in mitochondrial quality control and disposal. During the research, the researchers have accordingly observed that PINK1 accumulates within minutes at mitochondria that have lost the electric-potential gradient that spans their inner membrane. It also mentions that the researchers found out the cells deficient in PINK1, having disease-associated mutant forms of PINK1, fails.
