- Abstract
The article presents an analysis of the changing patterns of the mortality rate of coal workers with pneumoconiosis (CWP) in the U.S. in 1968-2000 from an upward to a downward trend comparing it to asbestosis, silicosis or unspecified/other pneumoconiosis. The national mortality data are presented in the form of comparative charts and tables. Possible reasons in the decline in pneumoconiosis mortality are also mentioned like the decrease in the coal mining workforce and lower dust levels.
