The article presents information on the threatened fishes of the world. One of them is Acipenser brevirostrum, commonly known as shortnose sturgeon, pinkster and esturgeon, a museau court. It is listed under the Endangered Species Act by the USFWS. It is found along the east coast of North America in the lower portions of rivers. In Canada, it is known only from the Saint John River. From spring until the early fall, shortnose sturgeon inhabit the deeper channels of freshwater and brackish zones of rivers.
