Salkin, Patricia E.
- Abstract
The article presents the "2006 Annual Review of Ethics in Land Use Cases." The study continues to monitor reported cases and opinions documenting allegations of unethical conduct involved in land use planning and zoning decision making. Majority of the cases that were reported deal with real and perceived conflicts of interest situations based in part on personal financial interests, employment, personal relationships and familial relationships. In a case in Connecticut, a planning and zoning commission chair was accused of tainting the proceedings because he owned a house within the proposed development area. Conflicts arising from employment are discussed. The American Institute of Certified Planners code of ethics for planners are discussed.
