- Authors
STEELMAN, JOHN R.
- Abstract
The article discusses the role of the U.S. Conciliation Service in solving labor disputes in wartime in the U.S. The U.S. Conciliation Service has been named as the first-line agency to maintain labor-management harmony by the President by Executive Order. It is said that settling labor-management disputes by voluntary methods of conciliation and arbitration is nothing new to the agency. However, the agency has no compulsory law to enforce and has no police power, as it seeks to be a completely impartial agency.
