- Abstract
The present work highlights the acquisition of self-deepening pellets in the form of cold consolidated briquettes, using for this purpose a fine mixture of iron and manganese ore, CaO, CaCO3, dolomite, coal and coke, agglomerated with slag from the refining steel Type MRPL (Bid Metal Refining Process) as raw material. The results indicate that it is possible to produce a cluster, with all the waste generated in the integrated steel mills, pressing and subjected to natural cure without humidification. Slag can be used as a binder, leading the briquette to have a compressive strength above 160 MPa according to the methods ASTM C496 and ABNT 7222. This resistance is comparable to the value of the burned pellet and coke. This quality allows it to be charged in a large blast furnace and other similar equipment. It is concluded that briquetting using steel slag as a binder allows the reach of a mixture of discarded fines.
