- Abstract
Study Aims: to describe the nature of the relationship between self-esteem, achievement motivation, and emotional intelligence, as well as to identify the differences between the blind and non-blind children in the variables of the study. Methodology and procedures: The study sample consisted of (80) children: (40 blind), the mean of age of the blind was (10,68 ± 0.72 years); and (40 non-blind), the mean of age of the non-blind was (10.85 ± 0.661 years). The study tools consisted of tests of emotional intelligence, achievement motivation, and self-esteem. Results: The results revealed the existence of statistically significant differences between the blind and the non-blind in social relations, organizing-sympathizing with others, favoring the blind but the differences of the non-blind in organizing emotions, Self aware- ness, feeling and attention, motives organizing, self motives, and total score were not their favor it was noted that these estimated statistical differences between the non-blind and the blind in achievement motivation and self-esteem favored the non blind. It was evident that both achievement motivation and self esteem were real predictors of emotional intelligence with the non-blind. As for the blind child, it was only achievement motivation that could predict emotional intelligence.
