- Abstract
This study has an exploratory profile that seeks to observe and catalog trends in the field of design research at the doctoral level. For these purposes, the doctoral theses defended at the University of Palermo (Argentine Republic) between the years 2017 and 2021 will be studied, particularly observing the paradigm changes mentioned by González Erber (2020), in his doctoral thesis entitled Social Trends of Graphic Design in Chile: Discourses on the cultural, social and natural heritage. Analysis of the degree projects of the Graphic Design career at the University of Chile (2000-2015). The author proposes the observation of a paradigm shift in the conception and role of design, previously linked to merely commercial aspects, towards a sensitive look at the problems of cultural heritage. He reflects on the role that academia plays in the transmission of these new theoretical conceptual schemes. It can be concluded that the theses analyzed in this work fully address issues related to the sociocultural and the research guidelines linked to these issues.
