- Abstract
The education of children with certain disabilities represents a complex and difficult mission. One of solutions leads to integrate them into inclusive educational centers. However, a segment of these children cannot be included in such centers because of their multiple deficits. Another solution is the inclusion in some complementary programs which affording them the opportunity to improve their status for integration into regular or special educational institutions. Hippotherapy is our proposed method for children with special needs. It provides the opportunity to add it by other targeted therapies in the company of horses, having beneficial effects of multisensorial stimulation. The study is an experimenting program in a horse riding and hippotherapy center. Based on our outcomes, we will pursue if the positive effects of hippoterapy will help children to improve their compliance to other therapies, in order to develop their physical and mental status and the integration into various school communities. The method was a complex kinetic program on 17 subjects, aged 5-16, which consisted of a proper horse riding and other different care activities in horses. The results have been recorded and interpreted based on individual fiches of Motor and Functional Global Evaluation and through observation. The evaluation was performed by initial and final tests. The final results were differentiated, related to the monitored parameters and to the individual disability.
