- Abstract
The article discusses the proposed imposition of criminal punishments in the U.S. on those individuals and entities which knowingly purchase trademark counterfeit fashion items as of October 2012, focusing on the economic impact of counterfeiting on prostitution, terrorism, and drug trafficking. Other topics include the U.S. Trademark Counterfeiting Act, trademark infringement laws, and America's Trademark Act of 1946 (Lanham Act). Anti-counterfeiting enforcement is examined.
