- Abstract
The article discusses research wherein rats were treated via gavage with dinitrophenol (DNP). Males and females were dosed at different times, with respect to mating and lactation. While deaths were not observed in either group, they both exhibited decreases in body weight and increases in liver weight. The body weight of pups was established, but no increased incidence of malformations was documented. It is concluded that DNP may cause general and reproductive/developmental toxicity, but it does not cause teratogenicity.
