The article analyzes the linguistic approach to literary criticism adopted by critics, with reference to Walter Nash's essay "On a passage from Lawrence's 'Odour of chrysanthemums'." Topics addressed include discussion of a lack of literary sensitivity in the linguistic approach, the absence of intellectual rigor in the approach, and other weaknesses of the linguistic approach.
