- Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship betwen human capital and economic growth in Turkey over the period from 1960 to 2012. In the study, Johansen cointegration method and Dolada-Lütkepohl Granger causality test are utilized. As human capital indicators, the total number of graduated in higher education institution, the total number of graduated in vocational and technical schools variables and total number of doctors are used. The Johansen cointegration test result shows that there is a cointegration relationship between human capital and economic growth. According to findings of Dolada-Lütkepohl Granger causality test, there is determined uni-directional causal relationship running from the total number of graduated in vocational and technical schools to real per capita GDP, from total number of doctors to real per capita GDP and from real per capita GDP to the total number of graduated in higher education institution.
