- Abstract
Objective: Sleep is one of the basic concept saffecting quality of life and health, with a physiological need. The sleep quality is affected during the last 3 months of pregnancy when complaints such as baby movements, frequent urination, heart burn are seen. The purpose of our study is to determine sleep qualities of geographies covered by the research. Material-Method: Research that applies to the gynecological and obstetric out patient Clinic and covers the gestations of the last 3 months of pregnancy at Amasya University Sabuncuoğlu Şerefeddin Education and Research Hospital. It is descriptive study. The sample size consisted of 204 pregnant women who applied to the obstetric polyclinic between March 2018 and May 2018. Descriptive statistics (mean, Standart deviation, minimum, median, maximum) are used to describe continuous variables. Written and oral approvals were obtained from the participants. The data were collected using the The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, which was approved for use. Results: The age of the surveyed population was determined as 27.69±5.56 BMI 24.13±4.43. It was determined that pregnant women did not work 80.9%, 34.3% did not have children, 88.7% did not have any chronic diseases and 46.6% did not exercise at all. The ratio of those who stated that there was a difference in sleep quality between the pre-pregnancy period and the pregnancy period was determined as 84.8% and 72.5% stated that they had a sleeping problem. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index average score is 7.27±3.18. According to the scale, 34.3% of the sleepers were found to have normal sleep quality while 65.7% had poor sleep quality. It has been determined that 72.5% who have sleep problems do not develop any coping method to solve this problem. Conclusions: The Pitsburg sleep score is five or more points and the increase in score also indicates poor sleep quality. In the third trimester, sleep quality is poor and coping methods are not very effective.
