- Abstract
Neuromyelitis optica or Devic's disease is an uncommon clinical syndrome which is described as co-existence of unilateral or bilateral optic neuritis and transverse myelitis. The pathogenesis is explained by autoimmune demyelinization triggered by a viral infection. Although it is well described in adults, childhood neuromyelitis optica has rarely been reported in the literature and is frequently misdiagnosed as multiple sclerosis. Herein, we reported subacutely developed left hemiparesis and vision loss in an 8 year old girl.
