- Abstract
The article focuses on the science fiction (SF) films "The Matrix" and "Blade Runner: The Director's Cut" which offer a critique of technology, wherein the humanity has created advanced and sentient machines. It says that the Marxist character of the films symbolize a counterhegemonic SF that exploits the implication of special effects and futuristic visuals. Furthermore, the films are subversive SF films that question the relationship of advanced technology with global capitalism.
