- Abstract
The article focuses on the forgery of original manuscripts in Germany. It notes that despite the faking of the original manuscripts, only the original has the aura of authenticity. Moreover, it states that the editions and digital copies of such documents will only make the original redundant but will never replace it in all functions. It also discusses the faking of the letters of Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm to Friedrich Carl von Savigny in which the copied editions came from the usual complex pre-history. A brief description of the forged letters from the Grimm brothers is discussed. It also emphasizes that the external features of every manuscript which include text, words, and their meaning will give an aura of authenticity to the documents.
