The article presents a speech on the Cold War delivered by the University of Kentucky Professor of History Emeritus George C. Herring at the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Headquarters in Washington, District of Columbia (D.C.) on April 27, 2011. Topics, including detente between the Soviet Union and the U.S. in the 1970s, the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, the U.S. President John F. Kennedy (JFK), the Vietnam War and nuclear weapons, are discussed.
