- Abstract
The article discusses a study which examined the development of a photographic hair reference key of wild and domestic ungulates and small mammals of snow leopard habitat in the Himalayas and Karakoram areas of Gilgit Baltistan Pakistan. Particular focus is given to the hair characteristics, such as average number of scales across mid-shaft region, average scale diameter and diameter of hair at mid-shaft region. It cites guard hair samples from the abdominal region of domestic animals as the basis of the reference key. The key can be utilized in determining hairs found in the scats of carnivorous species.
