- Abstract
The article focuses on the history of the Mendelson House hotel in San Juan Capistrano, California. It notes that Mark Mendelson and his family bought the land on April 19, 1874. It mentions that the Mendelson House was the only hotel in Los Angeles and San Diego. It indicates that Clara Mendelson, the wife of Mark, was regarded as the Duchess of San Juan and they have three sons together. It says that the hotel was given to the eldest son, Edward, in 1895 as a wedding gift. Edward took over the management and replaced the name to Hotel Mission Inn in 1920. Furthermore, it adds that the inn prospered and many Spanish movies were done in the inn. It stresses that in 1933, the Mission Inn was taken down.
