- Abstract
The article focuses on Jewish artist Hugo Ballin of Hollywood, California. Ballin worked as an art director, writer and producer for Samuel Goldwyn. He became famous because of his murals, according to the author. He had done memorable murals in California including the Milton E. Getz residence in Beverly Hills, the Title Guarantee and Trust Company Building and the Edison Building in Los Angeles, Four Winds, Golden Gate Exposition Park in San Francisco, and the Robert C. McClure residence in Santa Monica. One artist described Ballin as one of the finest decorative painters in America while another cited Ballin as a man of many talents.
