- Abstract
The article discusses the impact of the effort of Jane McCowan of Los Angeles, California to trace the presence of her great-grandfather Gabriel McCohen in California. It states that several documents and evidence confirmed the presence of McCowan's great-grandfather in San Francisco form 1849 to 1851. The author appreciates the effort of McCohen in tracing the presence of her grandfather since it offers knowledge of another important Western pioneer which can be helpful in confirming the the accuracy and dependability of primary source of Western Jewish history.
