- Title
Are anemometers at airports affected by taxiing aircraft?
- Authors
Cook, Nicholas John
- Abstract
The aircraft departures from Tampa International runway 1L in June 2021 are listed under the column headings: Date; utc = arrival time at hold line; Held = minutes held before release; Type = aircraft type; and Reg = aircraft registration. This study provides evidence to discount any need to correct wind speeds measured at airports for jet exhaust from aircraft taxiing past the anemometer. It is concluded that aircraft taxiing can be discounted as a cause for artefacts in wind data recorded at airports where the anemometer is to the WMO ([13]) standard at 10m above ground.
