- Abstract
This article explores the issue of debt and its effects on individuals and communities in Los Angeles. It presents the experiences and viewpoints of various people struggling with student loans, credit card debt, and other forms of debt. The article argues for the need to cancel mass debt and establish programs that offer affordable housing, healthcare, and education for all. It also calls for a change in collective consciousness and the destigmatization of debt. The author, Emmely Tot, shares their personal reflections on personal finance and the challenges of living paycheck to paycheck. They appreciate the Debt Collective's perspective on debt as a communal problem rather than an individual burden.
