Frisch, Marie Dixon
- Abstract
The article discusses the controversy surrounding the 1900-room hotel development at the ecologically rich coastal area of Pear Tree Bottom in Runaway Bay, Jamaica. Residents have openly expressed their concerns about the project. Marine scientists have also warned about impacts on the coral reef, and local organizations advocated for protection of the north coast's last wetland. The author also relates the nullification of the environmental permit of the hotel owner by Justice Bryan Sykes.
