- Abstract
Social innovation can be defined as promoting innovative solutions to public problems and difficulties with the aim of increasing societal welfare. As one can interpret from its definition, social innovation finds various application areas, moreover, it aids to reach out wider range of consumers if it is offered by public enterprises. In this regard, it would present valuable information for policy makers to investigate the awareness of society about the subject as they are the main consumers of social innovations. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the attitude of respondents against social innovation and social innovations executed by public enterprises. E-pulse, developed by Turkish Republic Ministry of Health, is a social innovation example that is applied in healthcare services by a public enterprise. In this study, we also aim to explore the consumer profile of e-nabız via statistical methods. In particular, relationships between the application use preference and some demographic factors, individual’s health condition, social innovation awareness and technology use are explored. As a result of the field study conducted, it has been appointed that the society does not have adequate knowledge about the phenomenon of social innovation and its use cases. However, in contrast to this finding, it has been found that recognition of e-pulse application is quite high, but with a relatively low use rate being unproportioned to its level of recognition.
