- Abstract
The article discusses various aspects of appellate reviews of criminal judgments in American state courts as of 2017, and it mentions the 2010 Survey of Criminal Appeals in State Courts dataset which was released by the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics and the National Center for State Courts. A criminal defendant's appellate rights are addressed, along with judicial discretion and defense appellate success rates. Courts of last resort and sentencing errors are assessed.
