- Abstract
This article provides an overview of the infrastructure of the Tzen oil palm plantation in Papua New Guinea. The plantation has a well-developed infrastructure, including roads, a sawmill, workshops, and a mill with a pipeline connected to the seashore. The plantation was established to generate income, employment, and road infrastructure for the Pomio District. The article examines the various components of the plantation's infrastructure, such as the road network, palm oil mill, and palm oil pipeline, and discusses the unintended consequences and potential challenges of the system. It also acknowledges that while the creation of infrastructure is part of the project's plan, the industry's focus on private gain may overshadow public expectations for infrastructure provision and maintenance.
